Snow Day Information
To help families plan for winter weather, we would like to outline what canbe expected from school on a snow day.
Richmond schools will remain open on snow days unless there is a civicemergency or a school is damaged and unsafe.
Should it become necessary to close schools, closures will be announcedearly in the morning via the following media outlets: Radio AM: 690 CBCRadio One, 730AM, 980 CKNW & 1130 News1130. Radio FM: 88.1 CBC RadioOne and 103.5 QM/FM. On television: CBC, Global TV, CityTV, CTVBC andFairchild TV. No announcement will be made if schools are open. Inaddition, information will be will be posted on the district web site and avoice message on the Snow Closure Hotline (604-295-4304). School closureinformation will also be available through Twitter at RichmondSD38.
Please make sure to discuss with your child where they should go in the event of a school closure.
Students are welcome to attend school on a snow day, if the school remainsopen. It may not be a regular day, and students may be asked to participate inalternate activities for the day, as teachers and staff may be absent. Pleasenote that schools will not be closed during the school day because of snow orother weather conditions. However,if necessary, elementary students may be released before the end of the schoolday into the care of a parent/guardian or other approved caregiver.
