New School Focus
Early in the school year for 2024 - 2025, staff met to discuss a change in our school focus. Through scanning during much of the 2023 - 2024 school year, staff noticed that self-regulation, resiliency, and anxiety were things our students were challenged with. This has lead us to a new focus for the 2024 - 2025 school year:
How can a school focus on Social/Emotional Learning, help build our students’ personal awareness and sense of community?
With our new School Focus in place, we are now beginning to look at ways that we as a staff can teach students how to be more self-aware, as well as build a stronger sense of community. As a starting point, we have created a staff Social Responsibility Committee that will meet monthly. The purpose of this committee is to create time for staff to come together to focus on student social responsibility. This will tie nicely into creating ways that we can teach our students about personal awareness, as well as help build a stronger school community. Our hope is, that with the establishment of this committee, we will be able to create some school-wide activities that focus explicitly on elements of Social/Emotional Learning.
