Focus on Literacy
Last June, our staff came together to review report card data from the previous school year and noticed the percentage of students who were proficient or extending in English Language Arts was approximately 10% lower than the District average.
When we returned in September this year, our staff had the opportunity to reflect over the summer on this data. Data updated over the summer on our Foundation Skills Assessment (FSA) scores from 2024-2025 also indicated that 32% of students in grade 4 and in grade 7 were Emerging in Literacy.
Staff came together to meet on our Professional Development Day in September, and given some of this data, we agreed to move to a school-wide focus on Literacy for the 2025 - 2026 school year. Staff are currently engaged in District Reading Assessments, and we hope this data will inform our instruction as the year goes on.
