Social/Emotional Learning Data
During the Fall this year, staff met to discuss a change in our school focus. Through scanning during much of the 2023 - 2024 school year, staff noticed that self-regulation, resiliency, and anxiety were things our students were challenged with. This has lead us to a new focus for the 2024 - 2025 school year:
How can a school focus on Social/Emotional Learning, help build our students’ personal awareness and sense of community?
Looking at some of the data gathered through our Student Learning Surveys from last year, some interesting things emerged. The Student Learning Survey is a Ministry survey which asks students in Grades 4 and 7 various questions about their school experience. A number of our Grade 4 and 7 students indicated that school makes them stressed or anxious, and many also indicated that they don't have strategies to use when they feel this way. The survey showed 17 out of 37 students indicating that school makes them feel stressed. 19 out of 42 students surveyed indicated that they didn't seem to have strategies to help them deal with stress.
