Information From the Middle Years Development Instrument
As we work on our school focus of Social/Emotional Learning and how we can help build our students’ personal awareness and sense of community, we can look toward some recent data to get a snapshot of how we are doing, particularly in the area of building our students’ sense of community and connectedness. Grade 5 students recently completed the Middle Years Development Instrument, which is a survey that asks students about their lives and how they think they are doing in various aspects, both in and out of school.
Peer Belonging: 90% report medium to High well-being. 11% report low connectedness, which is below the District Average
School Belonging: 90% report medium to High well-being. 11% report low connectedness, which is below the District Average
While we would like to see 100% of students report medium to high well-being in these different areas, it is encouraging to see that the vast majority of our students appear to be feeling connected to their peers and the school.
